Brief Technical Profile:
Dr. Lun received his B.Sc.(Hons.) degree from the
University
of Essex, England, and
Ph.D degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (formerly called Hong
Kong Polytechnic) in 1988 and 1991, respectively. In
1991, he joined the Hong
Kong Polytechnic University as a research associate. He is now an
associate professor in the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering
of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. From 2002 to 2006,
he was the Associate Head of the Department. In 2006, he visited
the University of Windsor in
Canada as the Visiting Professor. His research interests include
digital signal processing, wavelets, and multimedia technology. Dr. Lun has published
more than 90 international journals and conference papers. One of
his research projects "A study of the Computer Tomography and
the Wavelet Transform" was rate as Excellent by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Dr. Lun
is active in participating professional activities. He was the Secretary,
Treasurer, Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the IEEE Hong Kong
Chapter of Signal Processing in 1994, 1995-96,
1997-98, 1999-00, respectively. He is now a committee member of
the IEEE Hong Kong Chapter of Signal Processing. He
was the Secretary of the IEEE International Symposium on Neural Networks, Image and
Speech Processing (ISSIPNN'94), the Finance Chair of 2003 IEEE
International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, the
General Chair of 2004 International Symposium on Intelligent Multimedia, Video and
Speech Processing (ISIMP2004), and the Finance Chair of 2010
International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP2010). He is currently the Editor of
HKIE Transactions published by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in the
area of Electrical Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer, a corporate
member of IET, HKIE and a member of IEEE.
