Born in Hong Kong, I received local education until 1986. Afterwards, I continued my studies at King’s College, University of London, United Kingdom. Having obtained my BEng(Hons) and PhD degrees, I returned to Hong Kong and started to serve as a lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the Department of Electronic & Information Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I am married to Karen Lau and have two daughters --- Valerie Lau and Michelle Lau.
