Welcome to EIE website. We hope that this site gives you some flavour of the activities of PolyU EIE.
As you all know the world is buzzing with electronics and information flying from one place to another and indeed the world is being formed by the subjects we tackle within the Department. We like to think that PolyU is at the forefront of these developments; and like everyone else we need to adapt to and indeed shape the world around us.
Even though I have only been at PolyU for a short time, joining January 2014, I am very aware of the history we have in making practical differences to Hong Kong and beyond. The Department is now strongly research oriented and publication in good journals is for us, like most other Universities, a major priority, however, we also want to remain true to the PolyU tradition and make substantial impact in the world. We believe you will see many examples of this in the field of energy generation and conservation as well as in both hardware and software developments for communications, and also, of course, new and emerging fields.
In addition to our research work we need to equip the next generation of engineers to work in an increasingly complex world where most systems and projects are not confined to a single traditional discipline, so our students must understand and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. We should not underestimate the extent of the challenges that face the coming generations. We believe our programs are well tailored to providing vital skills for the engineers of the future.
We hope this site reflects our current ventures and aspirations and keeps you in touch with developments within PolyU EIE. Finally, if you have any comments on things you would like to see or features that you think would be informative please let us know. Like our circuits we thrive on feedback.
