A new place to reach new horizons

               Prof. Tsai has very successful careers in North America and
               Taiwan.  He has had more than 100 master’s students, 22 PhD
               students and 30+ post-doctoral students.  All of them are now
               working in different countries  such as China, the USA,
               Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Taiwan.
               Some of them are now Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or
               head of R&D in the private sector.  Coming to Hong Kong, he
               doesn’t have much thought about the place itself because he
               expects  himself carrying  on  with the same work motto:  “to
               help and serve people, both students and colleagues, to do
               their research and teaching”.
               To Prof. Tsai, research work should be original, interesting and
               useful.  He is delighted to join the EIE Department because the
               Department and the University embrace a practical approach,
               not just focus on publishing papers.  He also thinks that the
               EIE Department is doing very well.  There are various activities
               going on and it has a long history of success.
